Creating a Sustainable Built Environment
The development of the Vantage Business Park at Coldwinters, Dublin aims to create a new benchmark for sustainable logistics developments in Ireland, and further afield. This exemplar logistics project sets out to embed best practice strategies for sustainability integrating the climate change framework of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals into the design of the project. It constitutes the first multi-unit mass timber logistics development in Ireland.
The masterplan for the site was considered as a number of layers that would address specific goals and targets for biodiversity & water, sustainable transport, placemaking & wellbeing, resilient & low carbon construction, and circularity & resource use. A focus on innovation and resilient design, as well as prioritising the ‘human dimension,· guided the design for the individual buildings and the site as a whole.
As a developer, our focus has been on setting occupiers on their way towards net-zero business models with some of the most sustainable buildings in the Irish market.
Circularity & Resource Use
Resource use and construction waste will be minimised by using high levels of off-site prefabrication. The glulam structure of the warehouses has been ‘designed for deconstruction· DfD to ensure materials can be economically recovered and reused at the end of the building lifespan.
